I was educated as Peebles High School and went on to study history at the London School of Economics and later gained an MBA at Edinburgh University. On graduating I began a career of working in arts administration and worked for a number of theatre companies both in Scotland and England including founding a touring theatre company based in London. In 1990, I returned to Traquair, my family home, and took over the management and responsibility of running Traquair House and its associated businesses including the Traquair Brewery. Over the past 13 years I have been actively involved in tourism, the arts, heritage and business in the Scottish Borders. I have been a board member of the Scottish Enterprise Borders, Scottish Borders Careers and the Broadcasting Council for Scotlands. Currently I am also a non Executive Director of Border TV. I have been actively involved in promoting Scottish tourism at home and overseas. In 1984 I accompanied my father when he was guest of honour at the Grandfather Mountain Games in North Carolina and in 1992 I represented the Borders at the Stone Mountain Games in Atlanta. May a great day be had by all!
