Norman Scott was born in Peebles at Kingsmeadows House, the then wartime hospital in 1943, and is therefore one of the ever decreasing number of people who are truly Gutterbluids.

He lived in Innerleithen with his parents and worked in Ballantyne Cashmere for 40 years. A keen supporter of all things local Norman is a past Standard Bearer of st Ronan's Border Games and still serves on the committee as Treasurer after an amazing 47 years. He can also be found every year working as front of house staff for Innerleithen and District Amateur Operatic Society in one of his beloved kilts. He served as a Peeblesshire Scout Leader and Queens Scout for 30 years along with names such as Walter McLaren, Jimmy Ogilvie and David (Corky Ritchie). Nowadays Norman, a keen and talented gardener (recently appearing on the BBC's Beechgrove Garden), keeps himself very fit and active walking his dogs and even climbing some Highland Munros.

It was traditional that the Peebles Beltane Committee, through David Hoyle, ran the refreshment tent for the Games and as a reciprocal gesture, Norman and some of the St Ronan's committee have undertaken the same task for the Peebles Highland Games for some 15 years.

It is therefore with great honour that Norman takes on the role of Chieftain of Peebles Highland Games, a role he is very much looking forward to.
