Chieftain

Jim Currie - 2012 Chieftain
Welcome To The Royal Burgh Of Peebles Highland Games Association Website

On Sunday September 10, 1972 the Peeblesshire Tourist Association held the first local Pipe Band Contest. At that contest 25 bands competed giving a total of 33 performances. Over the years we have added Highland Dancing and Heavy Events to give us today's Highland Games.

We consider our present Games to be among the best non-championship events, providing a more relaxed atmosphere at the end of the competition season. This could not be achieved without the time and effort of a considerable number of voluntary helpers many of whom return year after year. We offer them our grateful thanks and look forward to their continued support.

Over the years we have been honoured by Chieftains from our local area and further afield and they have all brought their own unique personality to the position.

Our chieftain for the current year (2012) is local farmer and regular games volunteer, Jim Currie.
