2018 HEAVY EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIP

Having recently won the heavy events championships in Forres and Nairn in Moray, John MacLeod ventured south to take on some of the regular competitors at Peebles Highland Games on Saturday 1st September.   John got off to a great start recording 12.19m in the Shot and 17.87m in the 28lb for distance disciplines.   The Scots’ Hammer was closely fought with just 4cm separating the first three positions (are you sure the tape measure was tight Alan and Walter?) with Roy Valentine coming out on top with a throw of 32.29m.

Weight for height specialist, Pete Hart (it helps when you’re 6’6″) was the only man to clear 13′ thereby winning the Mark Hunter Trophy.

In the final Championship Event, Roy Valentine, John MacLeod and Pete Hart all managed to toss the caber with Roy achieving a perfect 12 o’clock finish.

Thanks to all those who took part.  The final Championship Table is presented below.
